Stars - Simply Red

Anyone who ever held you
Would tell you the way Im feeling
Anyone who ever wanted you
Would try to tell you what I feel inside
The only thing I ever wanted
Was the feeling that you aint faking
The only one you ever thought about
Wait a minute cant you see that i

I wanna fall from the stars
Straight into your arms
I I feel you
I hope you comprehend

For the man who tried to hurt you
Hes explaining the way Im feeling
For all the jealousy I caused you
States the reason why Im trying to hide
As for all the things you taught me
It sends my future into clearer dimensions
Youll never know how much you hurt me
Stay a minute cant you see that i

I wanna fall from the stars
Straight into your arms
I I feel you
I hope you comprehend

Too many hearts are broken
A lovers promise never came with a maybe
So many words are left unspoken
The silent voices are driving me crazy
As for all the pain you caused me
Making up could never be your intention
Youll never know how much you hurt me
Stay cant you see that i

I wanna fall from the stars
Straight into your arms
I I feel you
I hope you comprehend

Tag Tag Tag.... Bakit ako?!?!

Since three people already tagged me to post three different things, naisip ko na pagbigyan sila sa isang post...

[LOVE LOVE]
To start with, Kevin tagged me. anu ba! sa lahat na pwedeng i-tag at sa lahat na pwedeng topic, lablayp pa! nyahahahaha

Instructions:
1. The tagged victim has to come up with 8 different descriptions of their perfect lover.
2. He/she needs to mention the sex/gender of their perfect lover.
3. He/she must tag 8 more people to join this game and leave a comment on their respective sites announcing that they've been tagged.
4. If tagged a second time, there's no need to post again.

Perfect Lover?! walang nga akong crush, perfect lover pa pinadescribe! nyahaha! If you do not know me personally, then you have noooo idea how weird this is for me to answer... sa mga kaklase ko diyan nanagbabasa, laughfest niyo na toh!

First off, Lalaki poh yung para sa akin, at ang lalaki na yun ay...:

1. maraming alam. not necessarily a genius, someone who has broad knowledge of different things, may it be music, books, movies, useless trivia, anything under the sun, because people like that usually has a lot to talk about, which brings me to #2...
2. great conversationalist. I enjoy good long conversations. I have met very few guys who I could talk to endlessly about anything, with no small talk, no dead air.
3. opinionated and open-minded. yung hindi hypokrito. who is firm in what he believes in, pero alam naman makinig sa iba. arguing can be fun though! heehee..
4. great sense of humor. my kind of humor... which is witty and slightly sarcastic, ever watch Whose Line? haha. I loooooove Colin Mochrie. weeeee.
5. musically-inclined. but of course!! kung matuturuan akong mag-gitara eh di maganda! lol. wag lang all-out rocker, hindi kmi magkakasundo nun...
8. an all around good guy. yeah.

these descriptions will not assure na-inlab kaagad ako sa lalaki. hahaha. I don't fall easily. correction. I don't fall at all.

[SIMPLE PLEASURES]
ikalawa! Swann tagged me. eto mas simple..

Instructions:
Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like the most, then pick ten people to do the same. ry to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.

American Idol 5 Season Finale

I wasn't actually expecting much from the season finale since I was quite let down from yesterday's performances, but thank GOD I was wrong, I thought it was awesome! I haven't been this high since... ever!

This was the first time I actually enjoyed the judges introductions, especially Simon touching himself. haha. I mean I love Simon, but what's up with the tiny T's and the man boobs?

In the previous finales, they usually check up on the finalists' hometown fans throught out the show. But since Kat's fans didn't show up in mobs like Taylor's, I mean, come on! She lives in Los Angeles, her fans would want to see her live in the Kodak Theatre than stay out in Universal Studios wouldn't they?

So instead of that, the producers came up with "The Golden Idol Awards." It was fun, although the winners were obvious of course..
Outstanding Female Vocal - Princess Brewer
I understand why she didn't show up to accept the award, but I still wonder what might've happened if she did. Maybe, just maybe Aretha Franklin sang with her... haha

Outstanding Male Vocal - Dave Hoover
typical Dave Hoover. I'm not sure if he's really that crazy, or he just likes the attention. They say he went on flailing himself until the after party.

Proudest Family Moment - Claudette Yamin
Aaaaw. I actually thought Katharine's Dad would win. Then again, Eliott's mom deserved it more.

Randy Jackson Award - Rhonetta Johnson
Award for eloquence. Damn she has a wide vocabulary doesn't she?

Best Impersonation - Michael Sandecki
I really enjoyed this one, and when Clay Aiken stepped out, I'm like, woah... He looks good! haha, The Beatles haircut fits him well, not so gaylike anymore. And it's just amusing looking at Sandecki singing and acting like an awestruck fan.

Best Male Bonding - Brokenote Cowboys
I actually thought that maybe Garth Brooks or Tim Mcgraw might pop out and sing with them. Ah well, they did have talent, I guess they didn't want anyone to steal their thunder.
Aside from the Idol contestants own performances, what made the show damn good was of course the musical guests!

Let's see, last year if my memory serves me right, it was Rascall Flatts, Babyface, Kenny G., Lynrd Skynrd and ahahaha David Hasslehoff. So what's so different with this year's finale? Well, bigger, better guests and the element of surprise.

**Paris w/ Al Jarreau
The only thing I ever knew of Al Jarreau is that he's the guy with a soulful voice who sang "Teach Me Tonight", a song I wanted to play during our Grad Ball, then again no one in my batch would appreciate it. (oh well.) I didn't even know he was alive.. ahehe...

**Chris w/ Live
Remember early in the competition when Chris was highly praised with his rock rendition of Johnny Cash's "Walk The Line"? I think it was awesome too, but a lot of rock fans got furious with him because this rocker version was originally performed by the band "Live". Chris made it look like it was his idea... that's why by the next week, Ryan Seacrest ask him about it in those mini interviews he does before Chris' performance. He said Live was a favorite band of his, and that's where he got the idea. So I guess they were invited on the finale for credit, to show it's all good. lol.

**Katharine w/ Meat loaf
When Ryan Seacrest introduced Meat Loaf, I was like, what? they got him on the show?? woa... Yeah, he's gotten old, and the shaky voice didn't sound very nice know, but that performance won't take away his Grammy now would it? So it didn't really matter. And heck, he and Katharine sang "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" like it was a Broadway show. He did do theatre you know, and so did Kat.

Meat loaf, as funny as his name sounds, is someone I might never forget. Everytime someone would mention Meat loaf, I'd instantly remember the music video of "I'd do Anything For Love", which was slightly creepy but It had a Beauty and the Beast theme about it... There was Meat Loaf, with make-up so he looked hideous, and a Goddess-like woman in a bathtub. I haven't seen this video in years, and from what I just learned, this was released way back in 1993. I wasn't necesserily the video, but the song itself. I'll be putting up the music and the lyrics if anyone is interested to know what I'm talking about.

**Eliott w/ Mary J. Blige
As Eliott sang, I was quite bothered with the overlapping voice of a back-up singer, doing some runs i the song. Was it deliberate? they answered my question when Mary J. Blige came out... aaah.. so it wasn't a back up singer... I love Mary J. Blige, but she kinda stole Eliott's moment there... mom's still proud though. lol.

**Taylor w/ Toni Braxton
Toni Braxton looked wonderful and all, but I just couldn't understand a word she was singing!

**Idol contestants w/ Dionne Warwick & Burt Bacharach
The Burt Bacharach medley was already heaven for me, so many fine classics, but top it off with Dionne Warwick!!! I was a madwoman! I so wanted to be in the Kodak Theatre. She even sang 'Walk On By'... aww. the cherry on top. delicious!

**Prince w/ two very limber girls
Ryan Seacrest saying there are no more surprises, was like him saying there was one. so obvious, but of course no one expected it'd be Prince. haha... I understand why no one had a duet with him. No one had his range. He looked even more like Michael Jackson didn't he?

Old Time Rock n Roll - Bob Segar

We here at home love watching 'The Nanny' in the Hallmark channel. I actually forgot how funny the show was having watched it years before. Fran Drescher's voice is of course nasally, and annoying as usual but the show's worth enduring it. It airs everyday in the afternoon, but we choose to watch the reruns on Sundays because it's a 5 episode marathon. never gets boring.

Niles, the butler (Daniel Davis) is easily my favorite character in the show, with his quick wit, and his endless insults to CC Babcock. (and the pleasure he takes from it too.)

In one episode during the second season, (Canasta Masta) Everyone takes a trip, leaving Niles alone in the big ol mansion. and in the end, you see him in his undies dancing & lipsynching to Bob Segar's 'Old Time Rock and Roll' with a feather duster dualing as a microphone and a guitar in the living room. If that wasn't funny enough, CC walks in on him. For those who aren't familiar with the show's running jokes, this doesn't seem much. But for me, I'm already laughing my head off. (galing niya sumayaw, in fairness. lol.)

'Old Time Rock n Roll' is now a favorite of mine, not just because of Niles (but that is one of the reasons. hihi) but because the song says exactly how I feel about today's music, that's why I usually prefer old songs than what's 'hot' now.

Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Todays music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n roll
Dont try to take me to a disco
You'll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock 'n roll

Save The Last Dance - Michael Buble

"Save the Last Dance for Me" was a song by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, that was recorded in 1960 by the vocal group The Drifters, who took it to #1 on the U.S. pop charts. In the UK, the Drifters' version reached #2 in December 1960. Around this time, an answer record by Damita Jo entitled "I'll Save the Last Dance for You" gained popularity.

In the song, the narrator tells his lover she is free to mingle and socialize throughout the evening, but to make sure to save him one dance at the end of the night. The song is likely based on the personal experience of Doc Pomus, who had polio and used crutches to get around and could not dance. His wife, however, was a Broadway actress and dancer. The song gives his perspective of plaintively telling his wife to have fun dancing, but to please remember who she is going home with.

Moody's Mood For Love - Elliot Yamin

"Moody's Mood for Love" is jazz saxophonist James Moody's instrumental solo on the song "I'm in the Mood for Love." Later, jazz singer Eddie Jefferson wrote lyrics to this improvisation by Moody. This particular arrangement of the song did not come to be known by its now common title of "Moody's Mood for Love" until King Pleasure released a very popular vocal version in 1952. King Pleasure's version included vocals by Blossom Dearie as well as instrumental contributions from Teacho and Band. Other artists who later released renditions of the song include George Benson, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Quincy Jones, Tito Puente, Amy Winehouse and Georgie Fame. The TONY award-winning musical Jersey Boys featured the song. The song also has been featured on an episode of The Cosby Show.

There I go, there I go, there I go
There I go..
Pretty baby, you are the soul who snaps my control
Such a funny thing but every time you're near me
I never can behave
You give me a smile and then I'm wrapped up in your magic
There's music all around me, crazy music
Music that keeps calling me so very close to you
Turns me your slave
Come and do with me any little thing you want to
Anything baby, just let me get next to you
Am I insane or do I really see heaven in your eyes?
Bright as stars that shine up above you in the clear blue skies
How I worry about you
Just can't live my life without you
Baby come here, don't have no fear
Oh, is there a wonder why
I'm really feeling in the mood for love?
So tell me why stop to think
About this weather, my dear?
This little dream might fade away
There I go talking out of my head again, oh baby
Won't you come and put our two hearts together?
That would make me strong and brave
Oh when we are one, I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid
If there's a cloud up above us
Go on and let it rain
I'm sure our love together will endure a hurricane
Oh my baby
Won't you please let me love you
And give a relief from this awful misery?

What is all this talk about loving me, my sweet?
I am not afraid, not anymore, not like before
Can't you understand me?
Now baby, please pull yourself together, do it soon
My soul's on fire, come on and take me
I'll be what you make me, my darling, my sweet

Oh baby, you make me feel so good
Let me take you by the hand
Come let us visit out there
In that new promised land
Maybe there we can find
A good place to use a loving state of mind
I'm so tired of being without
And never knowing what love's about...
James Moody, you can come on in man
And you can blow now if you want to

We're through.

Life Keeps Bringing Me Back To You - Lauren Wood

This maybe the shortest song I've ever liked. ever. I mean short. really short. No, it's not a cropped version of a longer song. That's just it. How I wished they made it longer. I just love it.

Life keeps bringing me back to you,
Keeps bringing me home
It don't matter what I wanna do.
It's got mind of his own.
Life keeps bringing me back to you.

**UPDATE [2013/01/28]
My page statistics show that this is one the most visited entries here in my blog, and that simply goes to show that a lot of people love this song! And I bet all my visitors know that this one's from the show "Just Shoot Me" (well, in case you didn't know, now you do!)

So to all of you lovely people out there wanting to know more about this song, I've embedded a YouTube video you can listen to, and in case that gets taken down, here it is featured in Lauren Wood's official site as proof that it really is that short.

Stupid Girl - Pink

"Stupid Girls" is a pop-rock song written by billymann, Pink, Niklas Olovson and Robin Mortensen Lynch, and produced by billyman and MachoPsycho for Pink's fourth album I'm Not Dead (2006). It was released as the album's first single in 2006.

Pink has explained that she noticed many young girls near her Los Angeles home aspire to the hypersexual personae of female pop icons, rather than careers or talents. She was inspired to write "Stupid Girls", in which she deplores the lack of good role models for girls while encouraging them to cultivate independence. "There's a certain thing the world is being fed, and my point is there should be a choice", Pink said.[1]

Pink said the song was "brought on by several conversations I've had with women and girls. Women have fought so long and hard for our rights and equality, and now all our attention is put on being a size 0", adding that some are "living vicariously through these people who seem to shop all day" rather than focusing on issues such as war and poverty.[2] According to International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, the song "highlights the culture's relentless and unrealistic pursuit of thinness and unattainable drive for physical beauty".[3] Pink discussed what she called the "Stupid Girl epidemic" during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley

If you haven't noticed from my blog entries, I'm an avid viewer of American Idol. and today, it'll be about Chris Daughtry... [to be continued]

"Suspicious Minds" was a song performed most notably by Elvis Presley, and was widely regarded as the single that jump-started his career after his successful '68 Comeback Special. It was Elvis's eighteenth number-one single in the United States. Rolling Stone later ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Written by Mark James (who also wrote "Always on My Mind", which Elvis was to record later), the song was recorded along with at least another two hit singles -- "In the Ghetto" and "Kentucky Rain" -- in the so-called "Memphis sessions" of January 1969. He first performed the song at the Las Vegas Hilton on July 31, 1969, and the 45 rpm single was released in the fall. It reached number one in the United States in the week of November 1 and stayed there for that week. It would be Elvis's final number-one single in the U.S. before his death ("The Wonder Of You" in 1970, "Way Down" in 1977 and a posthumous remixed release of "A Little Less Conversation" in 2002 all hit number one on the British charts, followed by re-issues of several previous chart toppers in 2005).

Notable in this song is a fade out at about 3:22 into the song, which fades out for about 15 seconds before fading back in. This fade out was intentional, as it helped convey a message of relationship in the song.

**Sasakyan Kita / Totoy Bibo - UP Faculty

**Special post! (kasi walang picture, walang music, tsaka walang lyrics.)

My mother and I went to UP because I had to attend our Freshmen Orientation Program which was scheduled 12nn. At first, I wasn't even sure that I could attend because my mother presumed it would end earlier, and she had scheduled our flight back to Bacolod that afternoon. We kept arguing about it, because i felt it was important, and she thought it would be discussed at the start of the school year anyway, and my aunt (who was a UP graduate) thought so too. THANK GOD I learned that we were going to be blocked during the FOP, so since that was important, we got the flight rescheduled. yey!

We got there earlier, and met up with Genevieve, which was unplanned actually, she was there at the UHS for the medical certificate. dun na rin kmi kumain sa SC... siguro na tagalan sa pagkain, eh.. nalate pa rin ako papuntang Diosdado Hall... ahehe... not such a problem actually, i still had to line-up para i-block kmi, and the program started past 1pm anyway.

I would have regreted it sooo much if I hadn't attended because it such fun! A great start to a college life. I didn't understand at first why the orientation took 4hrs long as the sched says, but i turns out, kulang pa pala yun. Our hosts for the day were Benson and Marge (Kuya Benson at Ate Marge na lng siguro, para paggalang.) both CAL students, it think. and the auditorium were filled with CAL and EEE freshies that day.

Medley pla. nyahahaha! yep, sasakyan kita at tsaka totoy bibo. nagsolo pa nga yung isa. It was great seeing teachers not being serious, may video pa nga ako nila eh! kaso, when I uploaded it, ang dilim, kaya kailangan ko pa siyang i-edit.

We ended the day with a campus tour, and I learned na ang laaaaaaaaaayo ng building ng classes ko!!!!! huhuhu... talagang magtatakbo ako nito... Just thinking of it makes me tired. hay, I ended up going home nearly 6:30pm. It did tire both me and my mom out, I enjoyed the day very well. The only thing wrong sa araw na yun siguro, eh, wala akong masyadong nakausap or nakilala. shy kasi ako. heehee. tapos yung mga katabi ko lahat may kinakausap na classmate o kaibigan, ako lang yung walang kilala, kasi dalawa lang nga kami sa school namin na mag-uUP. tsaka magkaibang colleges kami. tapos parang nauubusan ako ng tagalog. ahehe... But at least someone did talk to me in the bus. Si Mary Ann, or Marianne, (hindi ko alam ang spelling, sorry!), Business Economics freshie... thanks for talking to me!

One Way Or Another - Blondie

Pumasok ako ng sinehan with low expectations for the film. But, it was better than I expected. yes, chick flick ito, medyo corny yung guy, pero it liked it anyhow. I was pleasantly surprised sa speaking voice ni Jojo, tapos hindi na gaanong annoying si Emma Roberts dito compared to her role in 'Unfabulous.' Sarah Paxton, who had the title role of Aquamarine was cute and quite endearing.

Her voice is more edgier than Mandy's anyway.

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha
I will drive past your house
And if the lights are all down
I'll see who's around

Isn't She Lovely? - Stevie Wonder

Here I am, sitting in a different computer.. kung sa ilonggo pa, indi ko mayo kumpormi di... lol. I'm actually in Manila, with my mom and my sister. we flew in Sunday, and earlier today, I was in UP Diliman for a college briefing and registration... (ang tagaaal! grabe!) which makes me an official iskolar ng bayan. yey!

As for the song, it didn't really stick to my head, but rather it was the first song that came to me after reading one interesting post ng isang utakgago. What was the topic? sex. Ewan ko kung bakit yun ang naisipan niyang pag-usapan, but I have to say, it worked! kasi ang daming nagcomment! haha, eh di natuwa si kevin!

I don't want to elaborate much here, but if you want to know whatever was written, you are more than welcome sa blog niya. (tandaan! magcomment bago umalis!) basta yung sa akin, the word sex is not bad, yung problema kasi ang laswa kaagad ng iniisip!!!

what's does this have to do with the song you ask? eh, the song is about the product of the union! (ang pangit naman na pagdescribe sa baby...ahehe) I myself only realized this only a year ago... akala ko kasi lovesong rin... hay, kay tagal ko ng narinig toh, hindi kasi nakikinig sa lyrics...

This song is the first track in disc two from Stevie Wonder's 1976 album Song in the Key of Life. Namention diyan sa lyrics, his daughter Aisha, and his girlfriend Yolonda Simmons or "Londie."

Isn't she lovely
Isn't she wonderful
Isn't she precious
Less than one minute old
I never thought through love we'd be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn't she lovely made from love

Walk On By - Dionne Warwick

Two days ago my older sister turned 18... yep a debutante, but knowing her, she didn't have the whole "debut" extravaganza. Which is fine actually, we both didn't want to dress up in gowns anyway... we're the jeans type. haha. She still had a party though, simple, casual attire gathering with family and her high school friends, and it was all fun, and noisy actually.

Initially, my mother wanted me to sing during my sister's party, and I'm like, "what?? what am I going to sing?" Well, I meant that, i knew nothing appropriate to sing for a debut. and I also meant I didn't want to. I'm shy. naks. I sing better in the comfort of my own home. hehehe....

How this song got into my head, I don't know... but it just did. This is one of about 7 songs that I kept singing all through the start of the previous school year, so it's no stranger. but yes, I'm still wondering how it got back in my head...

It's an old song yet again, and I'm pretty sure I've heard it way back when, but I only got around liking it and getting familiar with it when I heard Joely Fisher sing it in one episode of Zoe Busiek about a year ago or so... I'm not so much of a fan of Dionne Warwick, but I like this song very much.

This was released as the B-side to Warwick's single "Any Old Time Of The Day." An influential DJ in New York City named Murray The K decided this was the hit, so he played it instead of "Any Old Time Of The Day." Warwick's record company wasn't happy with this, but listeners agreed with Murray The K and "Walk On By" became the hit.

This must have really been a hit because even one British rock band, The Stranglers recorded their own rock version of the song. Which... well... I don't really know how to react... lol.

If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by
Make believe
that you don't see the tears
Just let me grieve
in private 'cause each time I see you
I break down and cry
And walk on by
