Ai de Gang Qin Shou - Wu Si Kai

Kung sooooobrang gabi na... or maybe, maguumaga na..(2am - 3am), pinapatay ko na ang computer, at papasok sa kwarto ko bago pa ko abutan ng araw. ( I will melt.) BUT, hindi pa ako tuluyang natutulog... at kagaya sa pagcomputer, may SOP rin ako bago matulog.... (this applies sa summer lang..)

1. turn off the computer
2. turn off lights sa sala
3. kumuha isang basong tubig (at uminom)
4. pasok sa kwarto, patayin na rin ang ilaw
5. turn on electric fan and desk lamp (at uminom)
6. kumuha ng CD (kahit ano) lagay sa player
7. patayin ang desk lamp
8. magtunganga hanggang makatulog.

I first heard, and saw, its video sa MTV. (because there was a time, I think 2 years ago, na MTV china ang lumalabas sa cable namin, hindi MTV phil... ewan ko nga kung bakit eh...) The video itself was pretty interesting, and I was drawn to the music as well... ang bilis nga eh! parang tongue twister kung kakantahin tong song na toh!

Touch The Sky - Kanye West

"Touch the Sky" is the fourth single released from Kanye West's second album, Late Registration. It was released in early 2006. The video is directed by Chris Milk who previously worked on West's award-winning "Jesus Walks" and the video for "All Falls Down."

The music video is made as a 70s style short movie about Evel Kanyevel (an obvious parody of Evel Knievel played by West), and his attempt to fly a small rocket across the Snake River Canyon. The video also features Pamela Anderson, Nia Long, Tracee Ellis Ross, and the Booker T. Washington High School Marching Band of Houston, Texas, which performs with Fiasco at a pep rally. At the end of the video, West fails in landing the rocket and crashes into the canyon, and after the ship has exploded, a scene with West dancing in the clouds is shown, having finally "touched the sky."

In 2006, Evel Knievel filed a lawsuit against Kanye West for trademark infringement[1]. Specifically, Knievel's lawsuit cites the similarities between West's star-adorned, blue and white costume in the video and the costume in which the stuntman wore when attempting his 1974 Snake River Canyon jump.

Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson

While browsing through channels last month, I stopped on MTV to watch TRL, I forgot what who on at that time that made me watch, all I remember now was that the hosts were telling the audience about what's in store for tomorrow's show, and that it would be the premiere of Kelly Clarkson's video of "Walk Away". and with that, they showed a sneak preview...

I thought the vid was fun and so was the song itself, heck I could be in the video. haha. just joking. and so, I proceeded to download the song sa Limewire... I only got around singing it all day when I saw the whole video in MYX.

"Walk Away" is the fifth single released from Kelly's sophomore album Breakaway. The song was written together by Kelly herself, Kara DioGuardi, and husband and wife, Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida

I'm looking for attention,
Not another question
Should you stay or should you go
Well, if you don't have the answer
Why you still standing here
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Just walk away (just walk away, just walk away)

Somebody To Love - Queen

I first heard of this song when Anne Hathaway was singing it on a piano for a bunch of giants. yes, Ella Enchanted, that's the one. I liked the song very much, but at the time, it was something I easily forgot about...

Few weeks later, I learned that the song was actually a Queen song, and I was very surprised. Not sure why, but my reaction was "Yuga?! Queen na gali!??" What was even funny was that a few days before, Queen was featured in American Idol, and it took me a few days to realized this was the song that Eliott Yamin performed on the show. (he's my idol by the way... siya at si Katharine..weeee..)

So now, I keep listening to these three versions of the song, Queen's, Anne's and Eliott's. And I'm singing my version around the house as well.. hehe..

Released on November 12, 1976, Somebody to love was written by Freddie Mercury. This was first single off of the album A Day at the Races. The song's kind of a rock ballad, and it works. But I find it even more interesting because they made it sound like a gospel choir in the background, but it's really only the band members voices (Freddie Mercury Brian May and Roger Taylor) multitracked to create that impression.

Wikipedia says "The lyrics, especially combined with the gospel influence, create a song about faith, desperation and soul-searching; the singer questions both the lack of love experienced in his life and the role and existence of God." I love it.

(He wants help)
Every day - I try and I try and I try -
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I'm goin' crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah - yeah yeah yeah

Milk and Cereal - G. Love & Special Sauce

Due to my excessive bloghopping, I stumbled one inactive blog... yes, the guy hasn't updated his site for months! but what kept me interested was one particular video in his sidebar... haha... how appropriate, a breakfast song! and I did sing through breakfast, kahit hindi milk and cereal ang kinain ko...

At first, I just thought it would be a song some people came up with for a flash cartoon or something. Turns out, upon doing my research i found that a certain trio from Philidelphia "G. Love & Special Sauce" sang this excuse for a song! (nah, just joking. i like singing it..wahahaha..) I was actually confused at one point because I couldn't find the track in any of their albums, then at long last I read that the group never did release this song. (although they confirmed it was theirs.. ewan...)

The song actually became popular because two guys made a video of them lipsynching the song... kinda like a BackDorm Boys phenomena, which means a LOT of other people made their own version as well. There are actually HUNDREDS of them at YouTube. And in my opinion, some are okay but most of them are stupid, I'm mean, they're lipsynching for crying out loud! They can't even do it right... waaaah. I didn't even like the original vid to begin with. BUT, I maintain that the video I first saw in the mentioned blog above was great and as I said in the tagboard, I thought it was kinda adorable.. haha...

although I could post that video here in this entry, it would be better to check it out in his blog.. wala kasing permission... hehehe... well, I did find one unique video of the song from youtube... yun na lng ipopost ko dito...

Milk and Cereal
Cereal, Cereal
Milk and Cereal
Cereal and Milk, Cereal and Milk...

I dont want my Wheaties
Give 'em to the needy
Feelin kinda greedy
I keep em for myself (X9)

What's Love Got To Do With It? - Tina Turner

I have a Standard Operating Procedure, when it comes to me sitting in front of my computer. ehem.

1. click my account (yep, me account po kami magkakapatid. ka-ekekan.)
2. maghintay na mawala yung sandclock sa mousepointer
(and sometimes, I play minesweeper kung bored na.)
3. log-in sa Yahoo Messenger. at magsulat kung anu-anong status..
4. buksan ang Mozilla, check ng mail. then blog. bka may bisita.
5. open LIMEWIRE! and sing myself hoarse.

On average, I spend about, hmm, 5-7 hours on the computer.. so nonstop rin ang music. just like now... haha. Anyway, out of all the different songs playing, Tina Turner managed to enter my head. (and I played this song an hour ago.. and i'm still singing it.)

What's Love Got to Do with It is actually a song, an album title and a movie! grabe.. parang kape. three-in-one!!

This song was the second single from Tina's breakthrough album Private Dancer, which was released on November 16, 1984 (birthday ko!! hindi yung year ha...). The song is widely credited for the success of the album itself. The song was again recorded in ehem... What's Love Got to Do with It im 1993 which is her twelfth album, and served as the soundtrack to the Tina Turner's biographical movie entitled, whatelse... What's Love Got to Do with It? (maganda naman ah... Oscar nominated at nanalo ng Golden Globe..)

Ano nga ba ang love? I sure don't know... hindi pa kasi ako naiinlove. ever.
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
What’s love but a second emotion
What’s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken

The Banana Boat Song - Harry Belafonte

I'm sure you everyone knows this one. If not, maybe just slightly familiar. It's a hit! come on, no matter how comical it sounds. (which was the reason maybe it was so famous.)

I have watched Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin) several times when I was younger, it's quite scary for a little child, but my sister and I loved it. lol. Just after lunch, the movie showed in (i think) Cinemax. and well, it was sheer luck and good timing that we reached the dinner scene. I actually found a clip from YouTube, uhm pirated, sort of. It was recorded straight from the TV.

Here you find Catherine O'Hara possesed, in a funny way and all of the dinner guests as well. (that's Winona Ryder as their daughter...) I love redheads. lol. This was directed by no less than the weird Tim Burton.
~PS. you should hear what the lady said in the beginning. haha.

Day-o, or the Banana Boat Song, has more history behind it than i initially thought. Wikipedia is now my bestfriend!

Day-o, Day-o

Daylight come and we want go home

Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
Daylight come, and we want go . . .
...Come Mr. Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)

Beep - Pussycat Dolls

To all the people who thought I only liked old songs, and expect only the good 'ol classics to sprout from this blog of mine, well, bibiguin ko na kayo. haha. I never really showed here that I also liked mainstream music. It's just that since I made this blog, not one of them has lodged itself into my head. Until now.

ah.. yes. The Pussycat Dolls. The first time I heard of them, I wasn't really interested to listen, i mean who would if you heard some critic say that they're like the American version of the Sexbomb? (sorry kung may SB fans diyan, pero I personally think it's not such a good comparison.) And at first, I thought Don't Cha was... cheap. but the more I heard the song, the more it grew on me. haha.. same with My Humps. and this song here.

Beep is, as of today, #2 in MYX charts. Performed with BEP's Will.i.am... but I'm sure you all now that. But did you know lead singer Nicole is Filipina? hahaha-hahaha (they laugh so well.)

Do you know that no
Don't mean yes, it means no
So just hold up, wait a minute
Let me put my two cents in it
One, just be patient
Don't be rushing
Like you're anxious
And two, you're just too aggressive
So try to get your (Ahh)

Fly Me To The Moon - a LOT of people.

Over the past weekend, my family and i went on vacation to Bohol. (awesome place!) anyway, part of our tour was the Loboc River Cruise which was actually a floating restaurant. We had a buffet lunch there, and while eating, there were two singers serenading the guests. They sang a lot of songs i liked, and one of the first songs they sang was "Fly Me To The Moon."

I'm not sure why, but after the hour was up and we got back to the car, I just started singing it. and I kept singing it all the way to Carmen, where we saw the Chocolate Hills. (ehem, that's like a 1-hour drive.)

This took me a long time researching the song's history. It's quite complicated. A number of people already sang it, but I always thought 'ol blues eyes Frank Sinatra was the original. I guess i was wrong. Would you believe it has it's own Wikipedia entry?

The lyrics is sooo short, i just thought I'd post it all. hehe.
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Love Foolosophy - Jamiroquai

"Love Foolosophy"

Jamiroquai
Written by Jason Kay
A Funk Odyssey (Sept 2001)

Second in todays hits... Jamiroquai! This song reminds me so much of "Lovefool" by the Cardigans simply because they have the same song topic and well they almost have the same title.. obvious ba?

Lovefool was also nonstop in my brainwaves last summer... hmm.. and today's summer too.. why is that? lol.

Actually, I know very little of Jamiroquai, knowing only that he's a techno music kinda guy, and well... wala na. Anyway, this came out of his 2001 album, The Funk Odyssey. additional trivia, this is the only album cover that doesn't include that mongolian(?) character of his... i don't know... it had horns, Genghis Khan was all I can think of.

And this love, fool, -osophy is killing
Previous illusions that
I had in my mind about you
Seems so true, all the lies you’re telling
Tragically compelling and
My love it means nothing to you
So maybe I’m still a love fool

Take A Chance On Me - ABBA

"Take a Chance on Me

ABBA
Written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus,
The Album (1977)

There are about five songs playing in my head right now, but two stands out, which of course, deserves some space in this blog... Okay, first I'll go with ABBA

I grew up listening to an ABBA cassette tape over and over again, and I don't think I got irritated at all. You see, we usually had road trips to a fishing farm every week after mass, and i daresay the trip was 1 to 2 hours long. And ABBA plays nonstop.

"Take A Chance on Me" would not be the first song that will pop in my head if someone would mention ABBA, but for some reason, i keep singing the chorus today. haha. beats me. The song's from ABBA - The Album (very unique title..) which was released in December 1977.

If you change your mind, I’m the first in line
Honey I’m still free
Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around
If you’ve got no place to go, if you’re feeling down
